The Heritage

Our story begins in Cyprus in the 1950s, when a young man, Panos’ grandfather, first immersed himself in the world of timepieces. Panos’ parents turned it into a successful jewellery business, passing on their love of accuracy and detail to the following generation.

Through the years, their retail spaces became part of Cyprus itself, helping define what craftsmanship and style meant for the island.

A Legacy Reimagined

Panos, who was born into this legacy, inherited not only tradition but also an insatiable curiosity. In 2008, following in his family’s footsteps, Panos Melekkis graduated in gemology and jewellery design from the Gemological Institute of America in Florence, Italy. Beyond technique, he learnt that jewellery is a container for places, memories, and moments rather than just an object. A qualified gemologist and award-winning designer, he quickly established himself as a creative force in the industry.

When he eventually returned to Cyprus, he entered the family tradition but quickly felt the need to move beyond it. In Limassol, he created a boutique shaped by his own vision. He wanted a home for pieces that spoke with the voice of the Mediterranean, luminous and calm, yet refined by the influences of Europe. Each jewel carried with it the brightness of Cyprus, the warmth of its people, and the poetry of the sea.

“With expert knowledge and skills developed from his training in gemology and jewellery artistry, mixed with a heart full of passion, passed down through generations, Panos became an innovative jewellery designer and the primary connoisseur for sourcing diamonds and other gemstones.”

Expanding Horizons

Panos’ search for knowledge soon led him to Dubai, where he entered into partnership to launch a gold and manufacturing factory. Time spent in Dubai revealed the scale and complexity of modern jewellery production.

That experience gave him a deeper understanding of what it means to turn raw matter into shape and form. Following this, he opened his own design studio in Dubai Design District, offering bespoke services, private showings, and custom production. It was in Dubai, as Panos himself says, that he “found the motivation to start designing again”, a moment that shaped the course of his career.

A Contemporary Vision of Craft

Today, Panos’ vision lives on through two showrooms, where Mediterranean light meets global influences. Panos approaches every commission as a conversation between past and present, between client and artisan. For him, designing is a way to tell a story rather than just adorn. One that lasts, one that can be worn close to the skin.

The influences in his work wander far: from the romance of France to the precision of Britain, the artistry of Italy and the spirit of Dubai. However, his work always returns to Cyprus, where these influences are condensed into jewellery that feels luminous, personal, and timeless. They carry the serenity of the coast, the heat of sunlight on stone, and the sense of possibility that comes with every horizon.

Recognition and Philosophy

Recognition has followed him. In 2023, Panos was awarded as a top 5 Jewellery Designer in the World, an honour that reflected both his artistry and his commitment to craft. But the most genuine acknowledgement is found in the lasting relationships he has created through his work. His jewellery is not made for seasons, it’s made for a lifetime.

What started as a grandfather’s spark has grown into a voice that speaks for the Mediterranean in the world of jewellery. With roots in Cyprus, shaped by history, guided by vision, Panos Malekkis designs with a philosophy both intimate and enduring: luxury that is personal, craftsmanship that is intimate, and beauty that feels as natural as the sea breeze over the island he calls home.
